Domestic Violence and Protective Orders
The Maryland Family Law Attorneys at The Drazin Law Center, P.A. have successfully represented multitudes of parties throughout the State of Maryland with their pursuit of, or defense of, Protective Orders.
Domestic Violence is devastating. When such aggression doesn't destroy families, it could cause the immediate victims, as well as the other household members, to live in constant fear. No man, woman or child should have to endure violence anywhere, much less in their home. Unfortunately, the aftereffects of Domestic Violence could span a person’s lifetime.
At The Drazin Law Center, P.A., we help individuals and families in Maryland deal with Domestic Violence and false accusations of Domestic Violence since 1985. Our Columbia Domestic Violence Attorneys and Dundalk Domestic Violence Attorneys understand the impact that Domestic Violence and false accusations of Domestic Violence can have on the individual, children and, indeed, the entire family.
If you are living under the threat of Domestic Violence or Spousal Abuse, we can assist you in securing a Protective Order. A Protective Order can force the physical removal of your abuser and restrict or prohibit contact between the two of you and even your family members. Potential restrictions could include:
- Removal from the home;
- Maintenance of a minimum distance in public;
- No phone calls;
- No e-mail, regular mail; and,
- No contact through third parties.
The Maryland Family Law Attorneys at The Drazin Law Center, P.A. can also help with a Divorce due to the instances of abuse.
As we all know, not all accusations of Domestic Violence are valid. When false accusations are leveled, the Maryland Family Law Attorneys at The Drazin Law Center, P.A. can help you defend yourself and your reputation. Unfortunately, many times, such false accusations are levied to gain leverage during a contested divorce or custody proceeding or to remove a spouse from a shared home. Our attorneys are experienced at defending against such false accusations to minimizing their impact on any collateral litigation (divorce, custody, or otherwise).
At The Drazin Law Center, P.A., our lawyers represent victims of Domestic Violence who need Protection Orders; while also representing people who are falsely accused of the same.
A victim of Domestic Violence may obtain a Temporary Protective Order based upon their sole testimony before the Court. The duration of a Temporary Protective Order is, generally, one week. After one week, the victim and the accused (respondent) will appear in Court for the Final Protective Order evidentiary Hearing. At the conclusion of the Protective Order Hearing, the Court will decide whether to continue the Protective Order for a period of up-to one year.
